We are seeking an enthusiastic, student-focused Registered Paramedic to join our Social Work and Healthcare Apprenticeships Department as an AC2 Lecturer in Paramedic Science. You will bring credible, current clinical experience and professional expertise to the development and delivery of high-quality, inclusive and professionally relevant education across our healthcare apprenticeship provision.
You will teach subjects that underpin paramedic science education, including academic, professional and evidence-based practice skills, helping apprentices develop safe, person-centred practice, critical thinking and the professional capabilities required for contemporary healthcare.
Working collaboratively with academic colleagues, employers and external partners, you will contribute to curriculum development, assessment, student support and practice-related learning, ensuring that provision remains current and aligned with professional, academic and apprenticeship standards.
You will design, deliver and assess inclusive, evidence-informed learning across a range of programmes, levels and modes of delivery according to departmental need. The role includes providing high-quality academic, pastoral and personal support; contributing to digital and simulation-based learning; supporting placement activity; and helping apprentices evidence off-the-job training and progress towards Apprenticeship Assessment or End-Point Assessment.
Applicants must hold a relevant professional qualification and current Health and Care Professions Council registration as a Paramedic. We welcome applications from experienced lecturers and from registered paramedics moving into higher education who can demonstrate experience of teaching or supporting learning in higher education or an equivalent clinical education role. A recognised higher education teaching qualification is desirable; alternatively, you should be willing to achieve one within an agreed timeframe. We will support your continued professional development within an ambitious and collaborative department.
