Are you enthusiastic about archives? Confident with online systems? We're looking for an organised and meticulous Archive and Digitisation Assistant to help us to make more of our collections accessible to a wider audience. If you enjoy working with historical collections, like a technical challenge, and want to contribute to education, come and join our team. We are offering an opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience in archival and digital skills within a university library. This one-year fixed-term role has been created to support a project to develop a Digital Scholarship Suite and related services, funded by a generous legacy gift left by Eric Pattison, an Alumnus of the School of English at the University of Sheffield. It sits within the Special Collections, Heritage, and Archives team and works closely with the Digitisation Officer and the Project Archivist.
The successful candidate should have, or demonstrate the ability to develop, a range of archive and technical skills. The role might suit someone who wishes to gain more practical experience prior to undertaking a postgraduate qualification in archives management.
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work. Our people are at the heart of everything we do.
We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a highly competitive annual leave entitlement (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pensions scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more.
