About us
The UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering Department invites applications for one (1) postdoctoral research position in 6G wireless communications technologies.
The successful candidate will work on the EPSRC project, Fluid antenna system synergises reconfigurable intelligent surface for 6G.
This project builds upon the pioneering effort of the investigators on fluid antenna systems - an entirely new antenna concept that permits extraordinary reconfigurability that can be translated into enormous capacity and reliability gains for mobile communication systems and aims to tackle the fundamental challenges in terms of design and optimisation and performance analysis for unleashing the great potential of fluid antennas for 6G mobile communications.
About the role
We are looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team and help us fulfil the project’s goals, producing quality research. The main purpose of the role is undertaking research, design and development in the design of 6G fluid antenna communication systems. This will involve new fundamental transceiver design and analysis by developing optimisation algorithms in the context of fluid antenna communications systems. The researcher will participate in the design, performance optimisation, evaluation, and validation of wireless communications systems using fluid antenna technologies as described above and according to the work packages of the associated EPSRC project.
The post is available for 12 months in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may be available.
About you
Applicants should have a PhD degree (or about the submit) in a relevant subject area, or similar experience demonstrated via publications in international journals / conferences. The researcher should have strong background in optimisation for Fluid Antenna Systems (FAS). Experience in physical layer security and covert communications is also essential. A strong background in wireless communication system and optimisation techniques is also important. Knowledge in integrating FAS with other promising 6G technologies, as well as in evaluating and validating hardware measurement data in wireless channels and systems is also desirable.
If the successful candidate has not yet been awarded their PhD, appointment will be made as a Research Assistant (Grade 6B). Payment at Grade 7 will be backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis including corrections, once the PhD has been awarded.
