Leeds Trinity University is a distinctive and ambitious institution with a clear sense of purpose. Rooted in its Catholic foundation and values, the University is committed to providing a transformational educational experience for students from all backgrounds and beliefs, while helping create a fairer, wiser and more caring world. With an established reputation for widening participation, outstanding student experience and strong employer engagement, Leeds Trinity is entering an exciting new phase of growth and development.
Recognised as University of the Year for Student Experience and ranked first in the UK for Teaching Quality by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027, the University has ambitious plans for the future. This includes the development and delivery of an Academic Futures Excellence programme, further international growth and an innovative new approach to enterprise and skills, all while remaining committed to excellence in governance, inclusion and public service.
To help achieve these goals, the University now seeks to appoint an exceptional new University Secretary & Registrar.
Reporting jointly to the Chair of the Board of Governors and the Vice-Chancellor, the postholder will occupy a pivotal position at the heart of the institution, serving as a key member of the University Executive Group. At a time of increasing complexity across the higher education landscape, the University Secretary & Registrar will ensure that governance arrangements, risk management and institutional assurance frameworks continue to support confident, informed and effective decision-making. The postholder will also provide strategic leadership to a broad portfolio of professional service areas, including the People & Culture Team and all elements of the student journey.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of a growing university with a strong social purpose. Working closely with governors, executive colleagues and stakeholders across the institution, you will help sustain a culture characterised by dignity and care, honesty and integrity, respect and inclusivity, whilst ensuring the University remains agile and responsive in a rapidly evolving sector.
We are seeking an accomplished strategic leader with experience of governance, compliance and organisational leadership within the Higher Education sector. You will bring excellent judgement, political awareness and the ability to build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. Most importantly, you will share Leeds Trinity's commitment to widening opportunity, supporting student success and delivering positive impact for communities locally, nationally and beyond.
The closing date for expressions of interest is 5pm on Friday 27 November 2026.
