We seek to appoint a Lecturer in Software Engineering to join our team of academics and contribute to the continued development of our computing programmes. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with expertise in software design and development, object-oriented programming, software architecture, software testing, User Experience (UX) Design, and modern software engineering methodologies. Experience in areas such as Agile development, DevOps, or cloud computing would be particularly welcome.

We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to our growing provision in Game Development and User Experience (UX) Design. Relevant expertise may include game programming, game engines, interactive systems, computer graphics, human-centred design, user interface (UI) design, UX research, usability testing, accessibility, and interaction design. We particularly welcome applicants who can integrate software engineering principles with effective user experience design to develop innovative, accessible, and engaging digital applications.

As a Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise student projects, and contribute to curriculum development. You will play an important role in ensuring our programmes remain relevant to evolving industry needs, equipping students with the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required for successful careers in software engineering, UX design, game development, and related fields. You will also have opportunities to contribute to research, knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary projects, and engagement with industry partners.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline, together with a PhD or a Master's qualification and a PhD nearing completion. You will have experience in UK higher education teaching and a commitment to developing engaging, practical, and industry-relevant learning experiences. If you do not already hold a recognised teaching qualification, we will support you in working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA).

We are looking for a collaborative, forward-thinking individual who is passionate about software engineering education, user-centred digital innovation, and student success. If you are enthusiastic about shaping the next generation of software engineers and digital technology professionals and contributing to a supportive and growing academic community, we would welcome your application.

We strongly encourage applications from women and individuals from diverse backgrounds as we strive to promote inclusivity within our School. All appointments will be made on merit.

For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Silvester Czanner, Head of the School of Computer and Engineering Sciences, at s.czanner@chester.ac.uk.
