Join QAA
QAA is the UK’s independent quality body for tertiary education. Our purpose is to ensure that students and learners experience the highest possible quality of education.
We are the UK’s authority on quality and standards, acting as custodian on behalf of the sector of reference points including the UK Quality Code for Higher Education, Subject Benchmark Statements, and the Frameworks for Higher Education Qualifications.
We work with governments, funding bodies and education providers across the UK and internationally to support and enhance quality and standards. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we work collaboratively with the sector to meet the needs of each nation. In England, our membership programme provides resources and support to strategic leads, quality specialists and students and learners alike.
Internationally, we are recognised as one of the world's leading quality bodies, supporting the reputation and reach of UK tertiary education through global partnerships and transnational education.
About the role
Our members get the most from QAA when we understand what they need. This role is about building that understanding: what members need, how they engage with us and where we can do better.
As Sector Engagement Manager for Member Insight and Engagement, you will turn member data and feedback into clear actions that strengthen our membership offer and enhance the member experience. You will help new members get off to a strong start, support existing members in getting real value from their membership and ensure the renewals process runs smoothly each year. You will also shape how we measure success, including developing our Engagement Dashboards and reports, using our CRM to build a fuller picture of each member, and carrying out research and surveys to hear directly from the sector.
At QAA, events, resources and projects that members take part in are delivered by specialist teams. Your partnership with these teams will be central to this role. The insight you gather makes a difference when it reaches the people designing and delivering the member experience. You will therefore work closely with colleagues across the Agency to ensure member needs shape what we offer and how we deliver it.
You will be part of the Sector Engagement team, working closely with the Head of Sector Engagement and two Sector Engagement Managers who lead on member relationships. You will also line manage our Sector Engagement Officer and work with colleagues in Digital, Marketing and Communications. Together, you will ensure that what we learn from members shapes how QAA engages with the sector.
About you
You enjoy understanding what people need and using that knowledge to improve their experience. You might have developed this experience in membership engagement, customer success, account management or a data role. What matters most is that you have helped an organisation retain and grow relationships with the people it serves.
You are confident working with data. You can use and enhance a CRM to record activity and produce reports, and draw out insights that lead to practical improvements. You can spot early signs that a member or customer may be disengaging, and you know how to help turn that around. You build trusted relationships easily, both with senior external contacts and with colleagues across an organisation. You communicate clearly and professionally in writing, in person and online.
You are organised and can manage several priorities without losing sight of the detail. You are ready to lead and support a colleague, providing clear direction and helping them develop in their role. You will thrive in a remote-first team built on collaboration, openness and shared accountability.
Knowledge of UK higher education and an understanding of the pressures facing the sector are important in this role. If you do not have a sector background but have relevant experience, we would still love to hear from you.

While most work is carried out remotely, there are occasional opportunities to come together in person for collaboration, engagement or specific activities where this adds value.
