About the Role
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as Lecturer in Endocrinology to contribute to research, education and academic development within the William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI). The successful candidate will develop an independent programme of high-quality research in endocrinology, while contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. The postholder will work within the Centre for Endocrinology and contribute to its collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment, with opportunities to develop research collaborations across WHRI and Queen Mary.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop their own research programme, contribute to high-quality publications, pursue competitive external research funding and support the supervision and development of postgraduate research students. Research interests may complement the Centre's broad expertise in endocrine disease, endocrine signalling and endocrine stem cell biology.
About You
You should hold a PhD in Endocrinology or a closely related discipline, or have equivalent relevant research experience. They will have a strong track record of high-quality research, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and an emerging or established profile within their field.
You will have experience of, or demonstrate clear potential for, developing independent research projects and securing competitive external research funding. You will also have experience of teaching and/or supervision at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively to a diverse student audience.
About the Centre for Endocrinology
The Centre for Endocrinology is a multidisciplinary research and education community spanning clinically applied endocrinology and fundamental research in endocrine signalling pathways. The Centre includes academic, research, technical and professional services staff, as well as a substantial cohort of PhD students, and is home to the MSc in Clinical.
The post has been established to strengthen research capacity, support interdisciplinary collaboration across WHRI and enhance the Centre's competitiveness for major collaborative research funding.
The postholder will have the opportunity to develop their own research projects within the Centre's broader research programme, including research relevant to endocrine stem cells, endocrine disease, disease modelling and the development of new therapeutic or regenerative approaches.
