We're looking for an experienced and commercially focused Head of Business Development to lead the growth and development of the College's conference, events, residential and Summer School business. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a successful commercial strategy, generating significant income while showcasing the College's unique facilities to a diverse range of clients.
The role is central to the College's commercial success, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients. You'll lead our Events team and work closely with colleagues across the College to maximise occupancy, enhance the customer experience and ensure the successful delivery of a wide range of commercial activities.
You'll be responsible for developing and implementing a profitable and competitive business development strategy, identifying new market opportunities and ensuring the College remains a leading destination for conferences, events and residential programmes. You'll oversee the full client journey, from initial enquiry and contract negotiation through to delivery and evaluation, ensuring exceptional service standards are maintained throughout.
Success in this role comes from combining strong commercial acumen with excellent leadership and relationship-building skills. You'll have a proven track record of generating new business, managing client relationships and leading teams. You'll be confident analysing market trends, developing effective sales and marketing initiatives, and identifying opportunities to enhance revenue and profitability. You'll be able to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and partners, acting as an ambassador for the College at networking events and within the wider community.
This role would suit a proactive and strategic individual with experience in business development, sales, events or hospitality, who is motivated by achieving ambitious targets and delivering exceptional customer experiences. Knowledge of the Cambridge events market would be advantageous.
