Department
York Law School (YLS) is seeking to appoint Associate Lecturers to join our team of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutors. This role supports the delivery of our distinctive and internationally recognised PBL model, which sits at the heart of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. As our student community continues to grow and as we expand our work in skills development and the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) pathway, we are looking for colleagues who are committed to high-quality teaching, student support, and innovative approaches to legal education.
We welcome applications from candidates with a strong grounding in the foundations of legal knowledge and the ability to support learning across a range of substantive law areas and legal skills. Associate Lecturers play a central role in facilitating PBL sessions, teaching seminars and skills workshops, assessing student work, and supporting students’ academic development. The post is ideal for individuals who wish to contribute to an inclusive, collaborative and student-centred environment and who are enthusiastic about developing their teaching practice within YLS’s distinctive pedagogical framework.
Role
In this role you will deliver high-quality teaching, facilitation and assessment through PBL sessions, seminars, tutorials and skills-based learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
You will also contribute to the design, delivery and evaluation of effective teaching approaches and learning resources. In addition, you may be required to undertake administrative and academic support duties that contribute to the effective operation of the School.
