Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Physical Geography within the School of Geography
The UCD School of Geography invites applications for a 3-year Lecturer/Assistant Professor position in Physical Geography. We seek an outstanding scholar with a strong research profile, or clear potential to develop one, in any area of physical geography, including but not limited to geomorphology, hydrology, climatology, biogeography, Quaternary and environmental change, Earth and planetary surface processes, or related field-based, laboratory, geospatial or modelling approaches.
The successful candidate will contribute to internationally recognised research, seek and attract external research funding, and help strengthen and further develop Physical Geography within the School. The appointee will have the opportunity to make use of, and contribute to the further development of, the School’s new state-of-the-art Physical Geography Laboratory, which provides an important platform for field-, laboratory- and methods-based research and teaching.
The appointee will also be expected to deliver engaging and high-quality teaching, inspire students, develop modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise research students, and contribute to field-based and practical methods training where appropriate. We particularly welcome applicants whose work engages with pressing geographical questions concerning environmental change, landscape dynamics, climate-related processes, human–environment interactions, or the physical processes shaping places and regions.
The appointee will also contribute to School, College and University service, and to an inclusive and collegial academic community.
