About us

University of Sunderland Students' Union exists so that students can shape their own university experience. Our London team is small and highly collaborative, and the work we do makes a real difference to how students experience university. We're building a Union that London students genuinely feel is theirs, where they lead what happens, raise the issues that matter to them, and see change as a result.

About the role

As one of two Student Experience Coordinators in London, you'll support students to run their own societies, campaigns and academic representation. Your work will include:

  • Training, coaching and supporting student leaders, including Course Reps, Student Voice Reps, society committees and our elected Officers
  • Supporting Officers and student volunteers to run listening campaigns and turn what they hear into action
  • Running a clear, accessible Course Rep system and supporting inclusive, well-attended elections
  • Helping students set up and grow societies and deliver safe, high-quality events
  • Supporting Welcome activity at the start of each intake
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with University colleagues, so that student leaders are heard and the systems we share with the University work well for students
  • Keeping records, data and processes in good order so that student leaders have what they need to make a case for change

You'll work closely with your fellow Coordinator, our elected Officers, University colleagues in London and the wider Students' Union team in Sunderland.

Students' union experience isn't required. We'd love to hear from people with backgrounds in youth work, community groups, education, the charity sector or anywhere else you've supported people to lead.
