We are an ambitious and growing School of Health Sciences with a sustained history of excellence.

You will join a team that embraces innovation and is committed to delivering high-quality nursing education. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant and developing Learning Disability Nursing portfolio spanning undergraduate, postgraduate, and Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) programmes, helping to shape the future workforce and advance professional practice.

The Learning Disability Nursing programme is student-centred, offering diverse and inclusive learning experiences across a range of practice settings. The programme is underpinned by strong and valued partnerships with practice learning partners and is enriched through meaningful engagement with people with learning disabilities, families, carers, advocacy organisations, and wider stakeholders, ensuring that lived experience informs learning, teaching, and programme development.

The successful candidate may be an experienced Learning Disability nurse lecturer or new to Learning Disability education. Support in role will be provided for those new to education. The successful candidate (s) would be expected to:

  • Fully contribute to academic role including delivery of teaching and learning provision across the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum alongside the development of teaching resources and marking assignments.
  • Engage in course administration, evaluation and curriculum design.
  • Develop skills and support students academically and pastorally.
  • Support the student learning in clinical practice whilst on placement.
  • Support the delivery of clinical skills and interprofessional learning across our range of programmes.
  • Engage in personal and professional development opportunities to expand knowledge base including participation on Bangor University’s PgCertHE scheme.
  • The successful candidate will possess a Higher Degree (MSc) in a related subject or be close to completion.

The University is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, situated on the North Wales coast between the mountains of Snowdonia and the sea, making it one of the most attractive university cities in the UK. Bangor University is proud of its Welsh heritage, yet it is also renowned for its approach to internationalisation and is ranked as one of the 100 most international universities in the world by the Times Higher Education.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Applications will also be considered to carry out this role on a part-time or job share basis.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to commence this post as soon as possible.

For an informal discussion, please contact Head of School Professor Julie Green, julie.green@bangor.ac.uk

Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.
