Do you have an interest in diagnostics applications? Would you like to be involved in a multidisciplinary project to develop an immunosuppressant therapeutic drug monitoring sensor to provide better patient care?
We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers focusing on the development of in vitro diagnostics assays and devices to deliver better therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) – this can optimise antibiotic use which will help combat AMR, or ensure accurate dosing can be achieved where therapeutic windows are narrow such as in immunosuppressants – this will significantly improve health outcomes. In therapeutic drug monitoring, drug concentrations are measured in the body and the results used to guide dosing. This is currently being done for immunosuppressants, but using mass spectroscopy which leads to long delays between sample taking and results being available. We have recently developed an assay for the rapid, accurate and cheap measurement of the immunosuppressant tacrolimus, which will enable routine use of therapeutic drug monitoring.
In this role, you will build on our recent advances and will further develop this assay for therapeutic drug monitoring of tacrolimus into a clinically deployable assay.
You will have a PhD in chemistry, chemical biology or related discipline and a strong background in in vitro diagnostics assay development and validation for clinical use.
