The role is hybrid - based at the Innovation Hub, White City Campus.
About the role:
The Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London is a world-leading interdisciplinary department that brings together engineering, medicine and the life sciences to address some of the most pressing challenges in healthcare. Through pioneering research, education and innovation, we develop technologies and solutions that improve human health and wellbeing.
We are looking for a Senior Translation Project Officer to join our growing team and work across scientific discovery and commercial application. Help manage pioneering research portfolio and turn science into technologies, partnerships and new ventures that could transform the future of food within the Bezos Centre.
The Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein is a $30 million initiative funded by the Bezos Earth Fund and led by Imperial College London. Bringing together world leading researchers and industry partners, the Centre is advancing sustainable food production through engineering biology, cultivated meat, plant-based foods and fermentation. Alongside the Microbial Food Hub, we are building a vibrant research and innovation ecosystem focused on delivering real world impact.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of research and innovation activities. You will help researchers develop promising technologies, build connections with industry and access the support needed to bring new ideas closer to market. You will contribute to major Centre initiatives including the Sustainable Food Accelerator, workshops and training programmes and the development of shared research and innovation capabilities and facilities.
More information about the Centre can be found on the following websites:

What you would be doing:
The role involves coordinating activities across the Centre and Hub's translation pipeline, research activities and supporting the delivery of programmes such as the Sustainable Food Accelerator, venture building initiatives and specialist training workshops. Working with technical teams, the postholder will also support the development and use of facilities to help researchers access the expertise and capabilities needed to advance their work.
Building relationships with industry partners, investors and entrepreneurs will be an important part of the position. In collaboration with Imperial Enterprise and the Centre's Impact Units, the postholder will help develop partnerships, identify funding opportunities and connect research projects with appropriate routes to impact.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring the research portfolio, engage with researchers and PIs, tracking progress against key objectives and contributing to new initiatives as the Centre and Hub develop.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a background in science, engineering, biotechnology or a related field and an interest in turning scientific discoveries into practical applications.
You will bring experience in research translation, innovation, commercialisation or project delivery. Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, including the ability to plan and coordinate activities, manage competing priorities and monitor progress across multiple projects.
Excellent communication, attention to detail, and stakeholder management skills are important, alongside the confidence to work with academic researchers, industry partners and external organisations. You will be comfortable working independently whilst contributing to a collaborative team.
