We’re here to create and harness knowledge, to deliver opportunity for everyone.
About the role
Edge Hill University Business School is seeking an ambitious, commercially astute and forward-thinking leader to take on the role of our Head of Business School at a pivotal point in its development.
We are looking for an exceptional individual with the strategic vision, academic credibility and commercial acumen to transform the Business School into a major engine of growth, innovation and regional economic impact. You will work closely with the Executive Dean of Faculty, and Faculty Executive Team, to drive improved performance across all areas of the School, and support the Faculty’s growth agenda. You will also work with the award-winning Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC) to drive impact through growth, job creation, new product and service innovation, technology adoption, and productivity.
Aligned with the University's Our Connected Futures 2026-2031 Strategy, you will position the Business School as a distinctive, outward-facing and commercially responsive academic community, connecting education, research and enterprise to deliver sustainable growth and meaningful economic impact. We are seeking more than an academic manager. We are seeking a transformational leader with the ambition, judgement and determination to build a Business School that is academically excellent, commercially successful and central to the University's future.
For further information or an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Professor Jay Cullen, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, at Cullenja@edgehill.ac.uk
About you
As Head of the Business School, you will be an experienced and credible leader with the strategic vision, commercial awareness and academic understanding to lead the School through its next stage of development.
You will combine strong academic leadership with a sophisticated understanding of the changing higher education landscape, student preferences, and emerging industry needs.
You will have the entrepreneurial mindset, financial literacy and business development expertise to diversify income, strengthen undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment (including transnational education (TNE)), expand executive education and CPD, and develop innovative partnerships with employers and industry.
You will bring a collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to inspire colleagues, lead change and create a high-performing culture. You will be confident using data, market intelligence and evidence to inform decisions, identify opportunities for sustainable growth and strengthen the School’s academic portfolio.
You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employers, professional bodies, public sector organisations, policymakers and international partners. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation and delivering an outstanding experience for students.
