President, Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford
The Governing Body of Corpus Christi College, Oxford intends to elect a new President to succeed Professor Helen Moore, who will complete her term of office at the end of September 2027.
The role requires someone of achieved distinction and high intellectual calibre, able to offer inspiring, empathetic and sustained leadership to a non-hierarchical and diverse self-governing community of scholars; to provide strategic vision and foster collegiality; and to take an active and constant interest in the academic progress and wider achievements of the College’s diverse and talented body of undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate will possess an inclusive and effective leadership style, be a highly skilled and engaging communicator, able to act as the public face of the College in a complex, dynamic and challenging environment and to bring a strong commitment to excellence, openness, diversity, and academic rigour.
Founded in 1517, Corpus Christi is one of the smaller Oxford Colleges, with 38 Fellows on the Governing Body, some 16 Career Development Fellows, Research Fellows, and Junior Research Fellows, and around 260 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The College is an inclusive and vibrant community drawn from many different backgrounds. Corpus combines a longstanding commitment to academic excellence with a welcoming and supportive environment in which individuals are encouraged to fulfil their potential. The published aims and objects of the College emphasize the delivery of world-class undergraduate education, regardless of financial background, through rigorous academic selection, and personal and small group tuition within the College together with personal pastoral support. The Academic Values of the College, as stated by Governing Body, likewise accentuate the pursuit and promotion of excellence in teaching, learning and research, the promotion of an atmosphere of academic integrity, innovation and a global outlook, and the maintenance of high academic standards which are supported with appropriately directed resources, regularly reviewed.
The successful candidate must be able to lead in a collaborative way, working with Governing Body and other staff to build consensus through good judgement and stakeholder engagement, and with a clear focus on the overall direction of the College. They will have excellent ambassadorial skills, and be a passionate and articulate advocate for the value of higher education and for opening up the opportunities that Oxford provides to as broad a range of people as possible. The next President might come from within the academic world, or from outside it, but must have an excellent understanding of the higher education sector, and be able to head an outstanding intellectual community.
The closing date for all applications, which should be in the form of a CV and cover letter, and addressed to ccc@minervasearch.com is Monday 11 January 2027.
