About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate in Design to join a multidisciplinary team accelerating research into biosimilar medicines for multiple sclerosis (MS). You will work on FOCUS-NHS, an NIHR-funded Programme Grant for Applied Research, within a co-design work package to develop an evidence-informed communication strategy supporting accurate, trusted discussions about biosimilars among patients, healthcare professionals and policy makers.
You will lead the design research, including clinic ethnography, secondary analysis of qualitative data drawing on Science and Technology Studies, key informant interviews and analysis of communication artefacts, and will plan and facilitate mixed-stakeholder co-design workshops. You will translate findings into design requirements, prototype and refine communication materials with their intended users, and be supported to publish and disseminate results.
About You
You will hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in Design, Design Research, Participatory or Service Design, or an equivalent research qualification and experience. Proven experience of co-design, participatory design or design research is essential, ideally in a health context, with a portfolio evidencing practice-based design outputs such as prototypes, tools or service touchpoints.
You will bring excellence in design practice, advanced visual communication skills, familiarity with prototyping tools, and experience of collaborative working with diverse stakeholders including patients and healthcare professionals. Familiarity with Science and Technology Studies is desirable.
