About you
UCL Careers supports students, graduates and staff to explore career options, develop their skills and prepare for their futures. As part of UCL’s Higher Education Development & Support Institute (HEDS), we work with academic departments, employers and alumni to enhance the student experience and strengthen graduate outcomes.
Our SLASH/IOE team supports four faculties: Arts & Humanities, Social & Historical Sciences, Laws and the UCL Institute of Education, representing around 18,000 students across a diverse range of disciplines.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Work Related Learning Officer to join our SLASH/IOE team on a maternity cover basis from January to December 2027.
Working closely with the Work Related Learning Manager, you will coordinate and deliver an engaging programme of activities that connects students with employers, alumni and the world of work. This includes careers and skills workshops, employer-led projects, hackathons, networking events and employer visits.
You will build relationships with academic colleagues, employers, alumni and professional bodies, identifying new opportunities to enrich the programme. You will also coordinate activities and delivery partners, monitor student engagement, gather feedback and evaluate outcomes to support continuous improvement.
Working collaboratively with Careers Consultants and colleagues across UCL Careers, you will help ensure activities complement existing provision and respond to the diverse needs of our students. You will also develop promotional content to encourage participation and report on programme outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution to the student experience, helping students develop the confidence, knowledge and practical skills to shape their future careers.
This is a fixed-term maternity cover role from January to December 2027, offering hybrid working with a minimum of two days per week onsite at our Bloomsbury office (subject to change).
About you
You will have experience coordinating projects and delivering programmes of events, training or work-related learning activities, with the organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
You will be confident building relationships with a range of stakeholders, communicating effectively with different audiences and developing productive partnerships. A proactive, flexible and solutions-focused approach is essential, alongside the ability to work independently and deliver an excellent service.
You will also have experience undertaking qualitative and quantitative research to evaluate activities, good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and familiarity with event or database management systems.
Knowledge of the graduate labour market, higher education careers or graduate recruitment would be advantageous, as would experience creating marketing materials, newsletters or website content.
