Opportunity Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Technician (Biochemistry and Chemical Sciences) to join our technical team at the University of Salford.
This is a practical, hands-on role based primarily within our Cockcroft laboratories, with responsibility for overseeing and coordinating technical provision within biochemistry and chemical sciences teaching laboratories.
You'll need a strong practical background in biochemistry, organic chemistry and chemical safety, alongside the ability to plan laboratory activities, coordinate resources and support colleagues.
You'll work closely with other teaching-aligned Senior Technicians to support the wider teaching provision, while also sharing your expertise with colleagues supporting Chemical Sciences research infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
About the School or About the Department
Our technical staff sit within the Faculty of Health, Community and Life Sciences (HCLS), providing specialist support for teaching, projects and research across a broad range of scientific disciplines.
Based primarily within Cockcroft, our laboratories support academic colleagues and students from both HCLS and the School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE).
Our technicians have different specialist skills and areas of responsibility, but work collaboratively across laboratory areas, sharing knowledge, resources and expertise where they're needed. Senior Technicians play an important role in coordinating this work, maintaining consistent laboratory standards and supporting colleagues across the wider service.
