The School of Critical Studies in the College of Arts and Humanities seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Modern and Contemporary Scottish Literature.
Applications are invited from candidates with an appropriate record of academic achievement in Scottish Literature, and with a proven research and teaching specialism in Modern and Contemporary Scottish Literature. We especially welcome applicants working in this area who have an interest in course and programme development, ambitious research plans, and experience of working as part of a team within a university environment.
Candidates should have a Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or equivalent in Scottish Literature or a cognate field, with a substantial publication profile and significant experience teaching within the subject in higher education.
Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow is unique as a centre for research and teaching. It is home to the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, and a founding partner in the Centre for Scottish and Celtic Studies (alongside Scottish History, Celtic and Gaelic, and Archaeology). Scottish Literature also works closely with the School of Critical Studies’ other subject areas of English Literature, English Language and Linguistics, and Theology and Religious Studies. Research income, knowledge exchange, and public engagement are priorities in the Subject Area. And Scottish Literature works closely with external partners across the Glasgow, Scotland, and internationally to this end. This post will deepen and expand these relationships and these priorities.
The post is full-time and based at the Gilmorehill Campus in the West End of Glasgow.
Informal Enquiries should be directed to the Head of Subject for Scottish Literature, Dr. Corey Gibson, corey.gibson@glasgow.ac.uk
