Job description:
Are you an ambitious researcher with a passion for bridging the gap between AI and software engineering? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our world-class School of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield as a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering.
We are looking for a collaborative academic with a PhD in a relevant field and a record of high-quality research. You should be eager to establish an independent research programme and secure funding to lead innovative projects that address the rapidly evolving challenges and opportunities posed by AI when it comes to engineering robust, trustworthy software systems. If you are passionate about delivering an exceptional student experience and communicating complex concepts to a diverse audience, we would love to hear from you.
The University of Sheffield is a remarkable place to work. Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their diverse backgrounds, abilities and beliefs make Sheffield a world-class university.
We offer a range of benefits including 41 days of annual leave (with the ability to purchase more), a generous pension scheme, flexible working opportunities, a commitment to your development and wellbeing, a wide range of retail discounts, and much more. Find out more at sheffield.ac.uk/jobs/benefits and join us to become part of something special.
You will join the AI × Software Engineering & Testing (ASET) research group, one of the UK’s largest clusters dedicated to software quality and automated verification. Our group drives world-leading research and practical solutions in software engineering, spanning both AI for Software Engineering and Software Engineering for AI. You will work in a supportive, inclusive environment with access to world-class facilities like the Diamond building, featuring a dedicated robotics arena and high-spec graphics labs.
You will be a lead contributor in designing our research-led curriculum, feeding into the design and delivery of AI-focused and software engineering modules. You will also have the opportunity to supervise real-world student projects for external clients and mentor the next generation of global computer scientists. This role offers you the unique chance to shape the future of software engineering through the lens of AI while contributing to a community that prioritises impact and inclusivity.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the University.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
