Department
Join the International Recruitment and Partnerships team at the University of York at an exciting time of ambitious global expansion.

The team operates in a fast-paced, results-driven environment, focused on driving international student recruitment growth and income through strategic partnerships and transnational education (TNE). Working across priority global markets, the team identifies, develops and expands international partnership and TNE opportunities that deliver measurable outcomes and support the University's global ambitions. This role sits at the heart of this activity, bringing together strategic partnership development, business development, relationship management and market insight to drive performance against ambitious recruitment and income targets.

Role
The Global Partnerships Manager will play a key role in developing and delivering the University's international partnerships, with a strong focus on supporting the delivery and development of York's Joint Education Institute (JEI) and Joint Education Programme (JEP) activities in China, as a member of the University's central China Transnational Education (TNE) team. The postholder will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues and external partners to provide operational support for existing JEI/JEP activities, drive key development initiatives, and identify and pursue opportunities to strengthen and expand these partnerships. More broadly, the role will involve proactively identifying, developing and converting new international partnership opportunities, building a strong pipeline of prospective partners, and maximising the potential of existing partnerships to deliver student recruitment growth, sustainable business development and income generation.

Operating in a dynamic and commercially focused environment, the role requires strong strategic and commercial awareness, data-informed decision-making and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The postholder will work collaboratively with academic and professional services colleagues across the University, engage confidently with senior stakeholders and external partners, and represent the University at key engagements in the UK and internationally.

The role will also require the development and delivery of compelling partnership proposals, business cases and implementation plans, ensuring that both JEI/JEP activities and wider international partnership activities deliver tangible, sustainable outcomes aligned with the University's strategic priorities, growth ambitions and income targets.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed

  • Proven experience of successfully developing and managing international articulation, progression teaching partnerships and/or TNE activities.
  • Ability to develop expert knowledge in strategic regions for university partnerships activity.
  • Experience of relationship or account management.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior academic stakeholders.
  • Strong business development skills with the ability to identify and convert new opportunities.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside core office hours when required.
  • Ability to undertake domestic and international business travel.
