We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter for the post of Contracts & Portfolio Manager within the Research Office. The post holder will provide contractual leadership for a UK Pre-clinical Translational Models Hub funded by UKRI. The Hub is led by the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and brings together the University of Cambridge, research institutes, NHS organisations and other national and international partners to accelerate the translation of innovative human disease models into better healthcare. https://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/cambridge-to-lead-new-ps20m-mrc-hub-to-transform-development-of-new-medicines-using-stem-cells-and.

The post holder will oversee the Hub's portfolio of collaboration, partnership and project agreements and will negotiate a range of research-related contracts including research funding agreements, collaboration agreements, studentships, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements and software licences. The role will involve negotiating both single-party and multi-party agreements with a range of sponsors and collaborators.

As a Contracts and Portfolio Manager, you will ensure both the researchers' and the University's interests are protected by agreeing terms that safeguard academic publication rights, support future research activity and protect intellectual property where appropriate. You will also provide advice on costing and pricing, undertake risk assessments, liaise with Cambridge Enterprise regarding intellectual property matters and support the successful delivery of Hub projects through effective stakeholder coordination and project management.

You will ideally have gained experience of drafting and negotiating agreements through working in either a university or a research-intensive organisation. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent. You will be well organised and able both to prioritise and work to deadlines. Able to work well independently and have a positive, can-do approach, you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with an aptitude for developing positive working relationships. In particular, you will have the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to a wide range of people, including academics, professional services colleagues and external partners. Diplomacy, tact, attention to detail and a calm approach are essential. You will be proficient in using Microsoft IT packages.

This role requires onsite attendance for a minimum of four days per week, split between West Cambridge and the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
