We are seeking a highly-motivated Laboratory Manager to join the Dong Group at the Target Discovery Institute.
You will be responsible for managing own tasks and administrative activities, where appropriate. This involves small scale project management, to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will assist group members in dealing with suppliers and engineers over faulty equipment and service contracts, ensuring that the Health and Safety requirements of the University are met. You will share responsibility for the maintenance and daily running of the laboratory including help with placing orders for reagents and consumables, maintain an updated inventory, and liaise with all members in the lab to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent in a biological subject, and have recent experience of laboratory support in a life science laboratory. You will be experienced in basic cell culture and preparation of common buffers; and have awareness and knowledge of the Health and Safety requirements involved in scientific research. It is essential that you are highly organised, have excellent attention to detail and have the ability to manage a varied workload under pressure and meet deadlines. The flexibility to work independently and as part of a team will be required, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff.
