Job description
The primary tasks of the position are research and teaching in digital and organizational communication. The successful applicant must have solid knowledge of communication-centred theories and empirical research on organizations and digital technologies. A background in the Humanities and/or the Social Sciences is desirable. The successful candidate is able to apply a broad range of relevant methods to emerging research topics in the intersection of digital and organizational communication. Among other things we expect research on how digital technologies are shaping and are being shaped by leadership communication and collaborative/conflictual processes in organizations, in organizational networks or between organizations and wider society.
In terms of teaching, the position is primarily affiliated to the stream “Organization and Leadership” of the Master’s programme “Culture, Communication and Globalisation”, but it may also include teaching obligations in other programmes under the School of Culture and Global Studies, including the bachelor’s and master’s programmes in “International Business Communication”. Moreover, the successful candidate will be required to undertake project supervision at different year levels. In this regard, it will be considered an advantage, but not a prerequisite, if applicants have experience with problem based learning, which is Aalborg University’s pedagogical model. Applicants who are qualified to carry out teaching in other areas of the programmes mentioned above should specify this in their application.
As teaching, supervision and examination activities are conducted in English in the Master’s programme “Culture, Communication and Global Studies”, applicants must master English at a high academic level.
In terms of personal qualities, the applicant is expected to have strong interpersonal skills and to be able to participate in team teaching as well as the planning of teaching and research activities with colleagues. In addition, the applicant must be able to establish and maintain good relations with researchers with different cultural and political backgrounds.
The new employee will be affiliated to the Department's Research Group “Crossing Organizational Boundaries” with the opportunity for affiliation to other research groups of his/her choice. Daily attendance at the Department is required. In addition, the applicants must be prepared to participate actively in all aspects of the day-to-day activities in the Department, the research group and the study programmes.
