2. JOB PURPOSE

To provide administration, support, security and development services for Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) and financial databases and user associated interfaces. Be an active part of the overall 1st and 2nd level support teams.

All Society databases (Technical infrastructure, software services, development, back end integration,  user interfaces, financial systems, CRM)

Users: 100+ staff; 50000+ members; public access to database driven web pages

5. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

(The knowledge, skills and experience required for satisfactory job performance.)

• education to third level in a technical and/or business related field or demonstrable database administration experience appropriate vocational-qualification
• experience of developing, initiating changes and maintaining data information systems and services
• ability to understand, anticipate, and use initiative in meeting user requirements for both database functionality and support facilities
• continued awareness of latest technologies that support office based users IT requirements in areas of database tools and data security
• ability to identify future developments in database management with particular emphasis in applying these to Society operation and system initiative
• a strong working knowledge of the data protection regulation and data security methods.

• demonstrable problem solving skills
• commitment to setting and achieving challenging standards of service
• ability to plan and work under pressure with minimal supervision
• experience of training database system users and technical authoring of user manuals
• a good understanding of project management methodologies and experience of providing assistance to data related initiatives

• experience of work with the HE/charities sector is an advantage 

6. KEY RESULT AREAS

• 1 Assist in the design and integration of database systems
• 2 Maintain existing databases and optimise performance to meet all business needs
• 3 Set up and test new database and data handling systems in line with project requirements and timelines
• 4 Monitor database efficiency and effectiveness of all information systems, report and make recommendations for performance improvement and development
• 5 Take proactive steps to sustain the security and integrity of data
• 6 Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Regulations
• 7 Contribute expert database knowledge to ICT related projects
• 8 Create complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted
• 9 Train and support authorised users in how to input and extract data
• 10 Provide 1^st and 2^nd line related support to users as assigned
• 11 Work closely with the database systems vendors to ensure security patching, product developments and project integration is optimised.

SOCIETY INFORMATION SERVICES: All Society data managed, stored and administered on computer systems must remain well structured, available and secure. The Society must ensure that all areas of the operating and financial services can function efficiently, securely and appropriately. This requires a dedicated resource to facilitate central control of all Society data silos.   

CONTACTS: regular contact with suppliers of the core database and key technical contacts in the Society for information system development proposals from any source. Daily interaction with staff and members at all level can be expected.
