The House is University of Plymouth’s new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Building, providing contemporary and creative spaces for theatre, dance arts and music performances as well as corporate events and social functions. In June 2015, it was used by the BBC for their flagship political debating show Question Time and in July 2015 The House hosted workshops as part of the U Dance National Festival.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop the profile of The House and to increase the commercial and externally funded use of its spaces. This will involve attracting, nurturing and developing relationships with potential commercial clients to secure bookings for high quality events and activities. You will also develop partnerships with arts and cultural organisations across Plymouth and beyond in order to identify opportunities to incorporate the use of The House within new projects and funding bids e.g. company tours, festivals, residencies, master classes etc.
This role requires a highly self-motivated and enterprising individual with experience of developing relationships with commercial clients and working in partnership with arts and cultural organisations. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, commercial acumen and the capability and determination to develop and pursue short and long-term strategies to maximise the success and impact of The House. You will have a first degree in an events, marketing, business or related discipline or equivalent professional experience within an arts or educational organisation demonstrating appropriate application of skills and knowledge. You will be an excellent team player, working in effect across two parts of the faculty: the School of Humanities and Performing Arts and Peninsula Arts, the University’s Public Arts organisation.

This is a part-time position working 11.1 hours (0.3fte) per week on a fixed-term basis for 1 year (initially). The contract will be for annualised hours to permit focus on events, where appropriate.
