Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Structures and Metamaterials

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a recently awarded AFOSR (US Air Force Office of Scientific Research) Grant entitled “Programmable origami metamaterials with adaptive stiffness”. You will join the structures group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). This post is available fixed-term to the 14 September 2019.

The objective of the project is to develop novel structures and metamaterials using origami technique. This particular Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) position will investigate how to utilise some of the existing origami patterns to create structures with specific mechanical properties that are adaptive to the physical environment they operate in. You are expected to be able to carry out independent research under the supervision of the group leader.

You should possess a doctorate, or near completion of doctorate in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, material sciences or any other relevant subjects. You should also have good communication skills.
