Philanthropy Officer - Principal Gifts (Mainland China, Mandarin speaker)

In 2008 we launched Oxford Thinking, the biggest philanthropic campaign in European history, and surpassed our target of £1.25bn in 2012; our target is now £3bn. To help us to achieve this new goal we are now seeking an experienced Principal Gifts Officer to support in the continuation of developing relationships and soliciting principal gifts from high net worth individuals globally.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced fundraiser with an impressive track record in building strong relationships with prospects and donors (in the UK and/or internationally) and in securing significant principal gifts at the six and seven figure level. Holding a degree or equivalent you will be tenacious, ambitious and self-reliant, but also adept at working collegially and developing excellent relationships with senior University officers, academics and your development colleagues. Confident and credible at a senior level, you will be experienced in the identification and cultivation of major prospects and adept at developing significant philanthropic relationships. Your background is likely to be in higher education or the not for profit sectors and you must be able to work well under pressure in a complex and demanding environment. Fluency in Mandarin (written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in Cantonese (writing and reading traditional Chinese) desirable.

This role will require international travel.
