PhD scholarships available at Kent Business School

Kent Business School is currently inviting applications for PhD scholarships to commence in September 2017. These scholarships will take the form of 1) Vice Chancellor Research Scholarships administered under the Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Scheme, and 2) South East Network for Social Sciences (SeNSS) PhD Studentships. Note that only Home/EU students are eligible for SeNSS PhD Studentships. • Finance
• Industrial Relations
• Management
• Management Science
• Marketing
• Operational Research

These 3-year awards consist of a scholarship (which for Vice Chancellor Research Scholarships and Kent Business School International Research Scholarships include a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) salary) and tuition fees. For Vice Chancellor Research Scholarships and SeNSS PhD Studentships tuition fees are awarded at the UK/EU rate. For Kent Business School International Research Scholarships tuition fees are awarded at the Overseas rate. The current 2016/17 rate for the scholarship is £14,296 and for the UK/EU tuition fee it is £4,121. The current 2016/17 rate for the Overseas tuition fee is £13,340. If you are an overseas student and you apply for a Vice Chancellor Research Scholarship you will have to fund the difference between Overseas and Home/EU fees. If you are an overseas student and you apply for a Kent Business School International Research Scholarship your overseas tuition fees are included. Scholarship rates and fees for 2017/18 are expected be announced in March 2017.

Scholarships are awarded to exceptional students. Successful applicants will normally meet all of the following criteria unless both the research proposal and references are exceptional:

  • Distinction at Master's level in a relevant subject
  • Score of 7.0 in IELT test - all PhD scholarship students carry out teaching duties
  • First at undergraduate level if still completing a Master's programme
