We are seeking a microbiologist to join an Action Medical Research funded project entitled ‘Discovery of Pseudomonas aeruginosa mutations associated with chronic lung infection in children with Cystic Fibrosis’.  This grant is based at the University of Liverpool and has partners at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.  This post is at the core of the project and will involve in vivo infection modelling, preparation and analysis of samples sequenced using next generation sequencing technologies, characterisation of microbial populations from patient samples and utilisation of in vitro models to investigate interactions in greater detail.  The outputs from these studies will be evaluated as potential diagnostic markers and methods.  You should have a PhD in microbiology or molecular biology, be familiar with next generation DNA sequencing and ideally be familiar with in vivo models and bacteriology in human health and disease.  The post is available until 30 June 2019.
