Glasshouse/Plant Growth Laboratory Technician - Grade 5

We are seeking a self-motivated individual to be responsible for managing a facility of transgenic greenhouses, walk-in plant growth rooms, and climate-controlled plant growth cabinets. You will provide support for the growth of healthy populations of experimental plants facilitating individual research groups and facility users. A key part of the role will be to maintain genetically modified plants, and manage their containment within the facilities, according to HSE requirements. You will be responsible for general plant husbandry, including plant health monitoring and the treatment of outbreaks of infections, as well as overseeing the smooth operation of the greenhouse and plant growth room infrastructure and associated equipment and facilities, such as potting rooms. You should be educated to BTEC Higher Level (or equivalent) and will support the associated research laboratories where most of the plant biology-focused research is carried out.
