Design Rule Ltd is a British company located at Silverstone Technology Park which has been providing product lifecycle management services to industries throughout the world for over 20 years. An exciting opportunity to work as a KTP Associate has arisen as part of a 24-month Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with Cranfield University. This is an exciting project that offers the opportunity to take on research challenges in manufacturing to support UK industry. The successful candidate will also enjoy a personal £2,000 per annum development budget.
As a KTP Associate, you will work in conjunction with the Through-life Engineering Services Centre (www.through-life-engineering-services.org) in the Manufacturing Department at Cranfield University. The mission of the Centre is to develop knowledge, technology and process demonstrators, novel methodologies, techniques and the associated toolsets to allow the concept design of high value engineering systems based on design and manufacturing for through-life engineering services. You will also have the opportunity to utilise the Digital Service Engineering Lab and Cranfield University.
Design Rule offer Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) consultancy services and develop Computer Aided Design (CAD) and PLM software. It is strategically placed and keen to continue its company growth pattern by elevating its current offering to accommodate an innovative closed loop PLM for Industry 4.0. Obtaining the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data management technologies within a PLM framework.
This project requires two KTP Associates with differing skill sets. Both associates will work together as a team to create a complete PLM solution with the 1st associate focusing on developing design methodology for IoT enabled devices and the 2nd on big data analyse and visualisation to allow effective IoT product design feedback.
This advert is for the KTP Associate: Design for Internet of Things (IoT)
You will have a background in computer science, mechanical or electrical engineering, or physics with a specialisation in IoT. You will hold, at the minimum, a MSc. Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of industrial experience. Essential for this position is IoT and practical engineering product design, data analysis, and IoT programming and device design. Knowledge of PLM will be preferable. You will have the skills necessary to design and conduct experimental studies, be a clear and persuasive communicator (both written and verbally), and have good team working skills. It is important that you are self-motivated, have a confident manner, can cope with high pressure situations, and have a cool, calm and analytical approach.
