Job Summary

Applications are invited for up to 3-year postdoctoral research position within the Computational Cardiac Imaging Group, led by Prof Declan O’Regan. We are looking for a data scientist with experience in developing new methods for analysing high-dimensional clinical data.

This post is part of a 5-year BHF program using machine learning and innovative data science to understand the causes and outcomes of heart disease through analysis of cardiac motion combined with genetics and other clinical data. We are designing systems that analyze large scale imaging data, including cardiac MRIs in UK Biobank, and convert this to machine readable form for classification and prediction tasks. This includes recent work on outcome prediction (Bello et al, Nature Machine Intelligence, 2019), discovering mechanisms of cardiac development (Meyer et al, Nature 2020), and finding potential new therapies for heart failure (Thanaj et al, Nature Cardiovascular Research, 2022).
