Careers Services Officer

Christie's Education

Role Purpose: The purpose of this role is to support students and alumni into external employment at the end of their studies and to increase awareness of roles in the international art world.

Key Accountabilities:

Careers Services

  • Providing careers services to students and alumni including advice on constructing CV and cover letter, job search strategies, interview preparation
  • Search and identify job vacancies and internship opportunities, liaising with Christie's HR as well as external companies and employers
    Distribute job listings to students and alumni, updating the student/alumni portal, LinkedIn, and other social platforms
  • Work with recruitment agencies and employers directly to source positions for graduates
  • Develop and maintain a large global network of employer and recruitment agency relationships
  • Work in co-operation with the Careers Services Officer in Christie's Education NY and the Global Development Officer to provide a global service for graduates

Networking and Business Development

  • Cultivate and maintain an active network of international art professionals
  • Develop networks and relationships with staff across Christie's Auction and Business Development personnel to raise the visibility of Christie's Education whilst supporting the corporate objectives

Alumni Relations

  • Maintain job listings on the alumni portal and manage the global careers newsletter sent to alumni
  • Strengthen relationships with Christie's Education's alumni to recruit and mentor students on the transition from education to employment

Supporting Recruitment and Marketing

  • To support the Recruitment and Admissions department with careers services open evenings, take part in recruitment activities both nationally and internationally
  • To support Marketing with statistics on student employability to be used in the Christie's Education prospectus

Enhancing the Christie's Education Brand

  • Represent Christie's Education and build alliances and networks of key influencers
  • Act as an ambassador for Christie's, maintain and develop relationships with external bodies

Team Work

  • Provide pro-active support across the wider Administrative team

Skills & Experience:

Essential Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years' experience in careers services and recruitment agencies specializing in art world professions
  • Understanding of and experience with higher education institutions
  • Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel
  • High level of accuracy/attention to detail
  • Strong data analytics and reporting skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and under supervision, able to plan, prioritise and organize effectively
  • Committed to continuous improvement and best practice
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills

Desirable Skills:

  • History of Art Degree
  • Relevant careers services qualifications
  • Knowledge of alumni relations/membership programmes and associated fundraising activities
  • Flexible, demonstrated capability to adhere to deadlines and to manage multiple tasks and requests, and able to collaborate as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
