City, University of London are looking to recruit a Telecoms Assistant to assist in the management of the mobile estate; arranging support and maintenance to ensure the smooth running of all telecoms infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The Telecoms Assistant will monitor the University's telephone systems performance; escalating issues to the University's maintainer as appropriate. You will respond to helpdesk requests in a timely manner, offering advice and support to stakeholders based on the systems used and their specific needs.

In addition, you will provide support to users of University mobile devices, including assisting with the selection of new technology, preparing orders for upgrades and escalating issues to the Telecoms team leader. You will liaise with project managers and various departments to plan office moves, and induct and manage onsite service providers such as engineers to ensure compliance with University Health and Safety regulations.

The post holder will support the telecoms team leader and deputise as required.

Person Specification

You will be an experienced Telecoms professional, familiar with working in a geographically diverse telecoms estate. You will have knowledge of various telecoms equipment, infrastructure and applications, such as Data Track call logger and Netcall voicemail, with sufficient expertise to trouble shoot and provide first line support.

You will have basic network knowledge including VoIP systems, preferably Mitel or similar. You will have excellent communication and relationship management skills with staff and all stakeholders, ensuring contracts are adhered to and service level targets are met.
