The University of Oxford is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced academic to fill the Agnelli-Serena Professorship of Italian Studies with effect from 1 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will provide academic leadership within the Sub-faculty of Italian and undertake teaching and research in the field of Italian studies, understood as covering the language and literature of Italy within the broader context of its history, thought and culture. She/he will have a world-leading research and publications record in Italian studies, native or near native command of spoken and written Italian and English, and excellent teaching skills at both graduate and undergraduate level. She/he will play a leading role in graduate recruitment to the sub-faculty of Italian and the teaching of graduate students, and will have the ability to promote Italian studies both within Oxford and internationally.
