Research Associate

Cardiff University - Dementia Research Institute

Two Grade-6 Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are available in the group of Professor B. Paul Morgan. Research conducted by the team examines the roles of inflammation, and in particular the complement system, in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The successful applicants will join a vibrant and well-funded research environment and take the lead in a programme of work aimed at developing new understandings of neuroinflammation, innate immune dysfunction and macrophage/microglial activation to reveal novel therapeutic opportunities in AD.

These studies will be guided by genetic discoveries that identify new genes and pathways implicated in the development of AD. The work will involve investigative model systems combined with state-of-the-art ‘omic technologies and functional assays. The researchers will be supported by a research assistant and technician and will help guide PhD students.

For further information, prospective candidates should contact Professor Paul Morgan (Morganbp@cardiff.ac.uk; Tel: 02920 687096).

This is a full time post (35 hours per week) which is available immediately and is fixed term until 31st August 2022.

Please be aware that Cardiff University reserves the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received.
