FoNS Administrative Assistant

(Maternity Cover – 12 months)

Salary Range: £30,770 - £34,960 per annum

We are looking for a committed individual to join the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FoNS) Administration Team. Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Dean, Vice-Deans and Faculty Operations Officer (FOO) of the Faculty, you will provide comprehensive support to staff within the Faculty’s headquarters at the South Kensington Campus.

The postholder will provide support to the FoNS Research & Education Managers, the FoNS Vice-Dean of Education, FoNS Corporate Partnerships and Development staff and the Executive Assistant. You will have a wide range of responsibilities including event co-ordination, minute taking, liaison with internal and external partnerships, provision of marketing materials, and office administration.

The postholder will also support the Education Manager in the administration of the Learning and Teaching Development Programme (LTDP), the Natural Sciences Teaching Committee (NSEC) and associated sub-committees, and Student Staff Committees, and the Faculty Annual Awards for Excellence. The post holder will be expected to provide administrative support for the Strategic Training in External Partnership (STEP) Programme, the Space Lab Network and the annual Imperial College Research Fellowship (ICRF) scheme at Faculty level.

You must have appropriate/relevant academic and vocational qualifications with experience in a relevant role or broad experience, acquired through a combination of job related training and on-the-job experience, and have worked in a university or public sector administrative environment. You will have experience of minute taking and preparing agendas and papers for meetings, and will have proven IT skills, including proficiency in Windows based software (Word, Excel and Outlook), and SharePoint.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, organisational skills and the ability to pay attention to detail. You must also be able to multi-task and prioritise effectively, and exercise initiative and judgement on how to address and resolve problems with minimal guidance and instructions from colleagues.

This appointment is a fixed term maternity cover for 12 months.
