Business Development Manager

The role and its responsibilities

The Business Development Manager will be a key member of the enterprise team which is part of the Research and Enterprise Office at SOAS and will work closely with academic staff across the School and other professional services colleagues to manage a range of knowledge exchange activities including consultancy, IP and professional training programmes. He/she will work to raise awareness and increase understanding of knowledge exchange at SOAS, supporting the development of policies, processes and good practice to achieve the objectives of the institutional knowledge exchange strategy.

Skills and experience

We are looking for an experienced business development professional who is skilled at handling the interface between academia and external stakeholders from business, government and third sector organisations. He/she will have an entrepreneurial approach and the drive and motivation to identify new business opportunities and turn these into meaningful, sustainable relationships with the potential for income generation across a range of knowledge exchange activities. Candidates should have demonstrable experience of creating budgets, proposal and bid development, project management and a track record of winning new business including large-scale externally-funded projects.
