Research Assistant in Patient and Public Involvement

The salary will be paid at Grade 5, £27,629 to £32,004 per annum, plus £2,923 per annum London Allowance.

This post will be a fixed term contract for 2 years.

The Department of Primary Care and Public Health Sciences wishes to recruit a full-time research assistant in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI). The successful applicant will hold a postgraduate degree (MSc or equivalent) in a relevant social science discipline and have experience in qualitative research methods. The post holder will have a dual role, where 50% of their time will be spent providing PPI advice and guidance to research teams that approach the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) London for support. The other 50% of their time will be spent contributing to research in Patient and Public involvement and the work of the ‘Citizen Engagement in Health Research and Implementation’ (CERI) research group. This will include a focus on emergent models of involvement in the NIHR and their implementation. We would support a post-holder to develop a PhD proposal for conducting qualitative research, with a focus on the social, ethical and political implications of citizen engagement.

The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.
