Clinical Teaching Fellow for USMLE

St George's, University of London provides international MBBS programmes for graduates (MBBS4) and school leavers (MBBS6). The aim of both programmes is to produce medical graduates with the essential knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes required to practise medicine competently and professionally in a patient-centred, multi-professional environment, and to equip students for a career of life-long learning and professional development.

All students on the International MBBS programmes are required to pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 before progressing to clinical placements in the United States for the final two years of their MBBS course. Achieving a high score in the examination is important for a competitive application for a place on a US Residency Programme, the primary anticipated progression route for our International MBBS graduates.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive professional to deliver high quality teaching for USMLE Step 1. The post holder needs to be familiar with the medical undergraduate syllabus in microbiology, pharmacology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics and pathology. The teaching will be delivered in set time-slots and in conjunction with other USMLE study resources.

You will be expected to work closely with the USMLE academic lead and other relevant staff across the university and at our International sites, to ensure coordinated approach to teaching delivery in line with students’ expectations. You will have a pivotal role in ensuring an excellent student experience for our international cohort.

The post requires a strong and diverse skill set comprising the ability to develop and deliver lectures,excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills, the confidence to work in an evolving and changing environment and the ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels.

The salary for this role will be £28,776 (inclusive of London allowance)
