Senior Clinical Research Fellow - Respiratory Medicine

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Research Fellow to join the Respiratory Medicine Unit let by Professor Ian Pavord at the University of Oxford.

This post is a joint Senior Clinical Research Fellowship established as a result of the collaboration between GSK and the University of Oxford.

You will divide your time between University based research in Oxford and pharma activities with GSK. You will have the opportunity to develop a clinical role at Consultant level in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and, therefore, the post is particularly suitable for those who have completed clinical training and are potentially interested in an academic career or a career in industry.

The principal focus of this role is to advance therapeutic research in to airway diseases through joint collaboration between academia and industry. In your role as Senior Clinical Research Fellow, you will be encouraged to focus on important, tractable mechanisms of disease, to develop better ways to measure airway disease and to understand heterogeneity, and to help establish a world class clinical trials facility.

The successful candidate must hold an up-to-date full GMC registration and hold MB BS and MRCP or equivalent.

You should also hold CCST or Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Respiratory Medicine or eligible for Registration on the GMC Specialist Register in Respiratory Medicine.

Sufficient leadership, organisational, communication, professional, and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of Deputy Director of a clinical research group, to make decisions at consultant level with regard to conflicting priorities, and to meet tight deadlines. Highly motivated, able to work independently on own initiative as well as being a team player.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for up to 5 years.
