Lecturer in Statistics and Financial Mathematics

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Greenwich has a reputation for delivering high quality teaching in the Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking to recruit a talented, well qualified, highly motivated individual to contribute to the Department’s teaching and research activity in Statistics and Financial Mathematics. This is a one-year fixed term position starting in September 2017 to provide cover for maternity leave.

As a full-time member of staff you will be required to contribute to the Department’s teaching activity through the design, assessment and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Statistics and Financial Mathematics. You will be actively engaged in research. Applications from candidates who can contribute to, or complement, the existing research activity in the Department are actively encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a keen interest in delivering excellent teaching, and be able to demonstrate creativity and innovation in curriculum and assessment design. They will be committed to the pastoral care and academic support of students. They will be expected to carry out administrative duties to a high standard and contribute to the Department’s outreach activities.

Applicants must have a good first degree in a subject in the Mathematical Sciences with a PhD in Statistics/Financial Mathematics or a very closely related discipline. A teaching qualification (e.g. a PGCertHE) would be an advantage. Please see the relevant job profile for the requirements.
