Sidney Sussex College is seeking to recruit a full time, permanent Payroll and Pensions Officer to join its busy finance team, preferably from November 2017. Reporting to the Head of Accounting and Finance, this role includes responsibility for the operation and management of the three College payrolls (Fellow, Staff and Pensioners) and for providing accurate statistics and reports for external and internal stakeholders. 

The salary range for this post is £25,298 - £29,301 per annum which equates to points 34 - 39 on the University’s single pay spine. Incremental progression up the range is discretionary. This post is pensionable under the College’s attractive contributory pension scheme and other benefits include free lunches when on duty, subsidised membership of the College gym, and access to childcare voucher and cycle to work schemes.

As the first point of contact with HMRC, Pension providers and the College’s payroll software providers, the successful applicant will be a highly organised individual with strong communication and influencing skills, who is a strong team player.  Likely to have proven experience of working in payroll or finance, an in-depth understanding of the payroll cycle and an understanding of the manual calculations of tax and NI deductions, qualifications and/or membership of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CiPP) is advantageous.
