Research Associate in Open Innovation

Kent Business School is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral Research Associate in Open Innovation.

We are looking for an early career scholar who is keen to make a strong contribution to our internationally recognised research programme in open innovation. The successful applicant will have demonstrated the ability to conduct research through the successful completion of a doctoral thesis at a reputable institution and ideally have published a job-market paper in a highly rated journal. An interest in developing a strong research trajectory in R&D collaboration, crowdsourcing and co-creation models would be expected. While this post is research-focused, we will offer the post holder the opportunity to develop a teaching profile in the area of innovation as part of their career development.

As Research Associate in Open Innovation you will:

  • Engage in individual and collaborative research and scholarship leading to high-quality publications at acceptable levels of volume and academic excellence, develop income from research, enterprise, or corporate engagement individually or in collaboration with others
  • Contribute fully to the School and University by participating in meetings, working groups, committees and other School and University activities
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, demand-driven and student-centred taught programmes as part of one’s career development

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in relevant area or near completion
  • Specific knowledge in the advertised subject area – open innovation, in crowdsourcing and co-creation models
  • Ability to generate high-quality research output, as evidenced through a published job market paper or manuscript under review

KBS is the largest school within the University and the Faculty of Social Sciences. The School has 2435 students and 144 staff. We offer a strong and growing portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research programmes on our two campuses in Canterbury and Medway. The School also delivers part of its MBA programme in Brussels and Paris.
