Project Officer

University of Kent - Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships

We are looking for an experienced Project Officer to join our team in order to support an outreach and employer engagement project within the Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.

The role holder will co-ordinate a range of project activity, aimed at promoting degree apprenticeships aligned to construction, to both employers and prospective learners. In addition, the role holder will carry out project administration tasks including communications, and reporting.

As Project Officer you will:

  • Co-ordinate the Centre’s outreach activity and work with partner schools.
  • Co-ordinate employer engagement activity relating to the Centre’s project aimed at developing degree apprenticeships aligned to construction.
  • Handle project administration tasks, including monitoring progress, reporting on activity, monitoring budget, measuring and assessing outcomes and completing reports on all areas of activity.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • BA Honours degree or equivalent OR Project management qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • ECDL Advance course qualification (or equivalent advanced IT qualification/experience)
  • Ability to assess outcomes of work and constantly review processes to improve them.
  • Ability to research topics and write a report which analyses the material and identify issues for resolution.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to balance a variety of tasks whilst delivering results and meeting deadlines.

Centre for Higher & Degree Apprenticeships

The University of Kent has delivered higher apprenticeships since 2011, working with industry-leading employers including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Novartis and Unilever.

Kent launched the Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in 2016 to build on this experience. The centre works in partnership with regional and national employers to develop apprenticeships tailored to their needs. The centre also has an important role to play within the University, supporting academic schools on all aspects of delivering apprenticeship training.

The Centre works with employers to support them in a range of ways from basic advice to fully managed apprenticeships.
