Finance Coordinator

Applications are invited for an exciting and newly created role of Finance Coordinator in the Department of Medicine.

This will be a key position in the core team in Medicine, reporting directly to the Business and Operations Manager. The successful candidate will head up a small accounts team and provide financial management information to senior staff that is critical to the successful running of a large and complex Department.

The Department has a total of about 560 staff (including 22 professors) plus 100 visitors. The Department currently holds research grants in the region of £145m and submits up to 200 applications annually in addition to running a comprehensive General Ledger. Operating out of numerous sites around the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus and involved in a number of capital projects, the Department is expanding in size and scope.

The Finance Coordinator will, amongst other duties, oversee monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts; prepare annual financial submissions; analyse financial data and provide budgetary and planning advice to senior management. The successful candidate will attend committee and Heads of Department meetings to provide financial advice, and take responsibility for financial controls and planning within the Department.

The post holder will hold a degree in accounting, or equivalent level of qualification. They will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of accounting, and research grants and have substantial experience in a senior finance management role in a similar environment.
