Echo Factory is a young specialist institution offering degrees to students who wish to work in Music and related industries. Located in the Cultural Quarter of the vibrant city of Leicester, we have a venue, studio and bespoke learning facilities and a small but dedicated industry orientated teaching team who work with students as they gain confidence and competence to work in a dynamic and changing creative world.

As we are growing, we are seeking a dynamic and successful music industry specialists to contribute to two or more of the following areas; marketing, project management and music management. This fractional post is structured to support the right candidates to maintain their professional practice as well as to support an early stage lecturer to develop approaches to the curriculum that emphasise innovation, currency and creativity.

We seek applications and enquires from graduates with at least three years successful music business experience and who would ideally have a post-graduate qualification, teaching at Degree Level and in addition have strong connections and network to support curricular and extra curricula activities.

Job Purpose:

Core team lecturers deliver or manage the delivery of modules within the two-degree pathways offered by Echo Factory. Lecturers are responsible for all aspects of delivering the validated programs ensuring the quality of the student experience in terms of teaching and learning, specialist practical tuition, mentoring and support across modules. They will deliver and/or oversee all aspects of assessment for modules where they hold responsibility and also ensure feedback and evaluation are monitored in accordance with practice agreed at Course Committee and to agreed schedules of work.

They will be assigned and will assign module responsibilities (in conjunction with the Director of Studies) to ensure expertise and experience are distributed with due diligence.

Main Duties:

  • Preparing and teaching validated modules (with detailed module and more specific module details) including topics, assessment briefs, handouts and materials available/technical and assessment timetable
  • Ensuring all online materials are uploaded and available via University Virtual Learning Environment (Canvas)
  • Preparing and agreeing visiting staff and agreeing timetable for contributions agreed, in advance, with CEO/DoS
  • Providing role as Personal Tutor as defined in Echo Factory Handbook
  • Acting as second marker/moderator for modules as determined by Course-leader/Dir of Studies
  • Participating in Peer-Evaluation of Teaching and mentoring visiting staff as required
  • Providing support, as required, for presentations and admissions duties for designated course(s)
  • Any other duties as might be reasonable required by DoS including deputising or temporary role assignment (admissions, assessment board, industry liaison, professional practice, college/school visits etcetera)

Person Specification

Essential:

  • BA(Hons) plus post-graduate qualification or equivalent experience
  • Significant¬†teaching experience at HE Level (part-time or visiting lecturing can count towards this)
  • Significant¬†experience of Professional experience in field of expertise within Music Industry and/or related field(s)

Desirable:

  • Experience as a module leader and or experience of validation, curriculum design
  • PG Cert HE or HEA membership or associate membership
  • Active professional networking evidenced in CV, networks and established links with industry partners
