About the role:
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Research Assistant to join the Department of Psychology. You’ll work on a project funded by Action Medical Research examining the cognitive, social and motor development of preterm babies aged 3 to 15 months. Duties will include preparing research materials and administering the experiments (from data collection to initial analysis), mainly behavioural tests of cognitive development and exploratory behaviour, as well as computer-based tests of visual habituation and eye tracking. The job will involve extensive car travel within Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire as assessments will take place in the babies’ homes and hospital neonatal units.

With an undergraduate degree in Psychology, you'll ideally hold a postgraduate qualification in Psychology (MSc or PhD), or be near to completion, and have experience in carrying out the relevant research techniques with babies. With excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail, you’ll also be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and comprehensive understanding of statistics using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
